BRIC is an acronym that stands for Brazil, India, China, and Russia. These countries are grouped together because of their similar economic development.

But when we screened to find the top-performing BRIC countries this year to date, we discovered that all seven top performers, all of whom had an increase in year-to-date stock price of over 100 percent, are Chinese. In fact, the highest performing BRIC country not in China is WNS Holdings (WNS) in India, which experienced a relatively modest 62.22 percent gain. 21 Chinese companies did better.

These are the top eight, according to our research:

Hanwha SolarOne Co. Ltd. (HSOL)
This Chinese company makes photovoltaic solar cells, and raked in 56.2 million in 2010. This company leads all BRIC countries with a whopping 136.63 percent gain YTD to hit $2.39 a share.

China Information Technology (CNIT)
This company provides 鈥渟ystems that include First Responder Coordination Platform, Intelligent Recognition System, Residence Card Information Braves 22 Jason Heyward 2010 all star blue Jerseys Management System, and police use GIS products.鈥?They鈥e up 180.22 percent on the year.

China Mobile Games and Entertainment Groups (CMGE)
This company is one of the leading mobile phone-based game making companies in China. They鈥e up 233.50 percent on the year, and sit at $13.04 a share.

Lentuo International Inc. (LAS)
Lentuo is a Chinese automobile dealership company expanded rapidly in 2013, and their stock price reflects this. Lentuo has gained an astronomical 299.18 percent to date this year, and currently sits at $4.18 a share.

China HGS Real Estate Inc. (HGSH)
This real estate company develops apartment complexes in Hanzhong City, the capital and largest city of Zhejiang Province in Eastern China. The stock has posted a 189.08 percent gain on the year, though this is tempered by a 21.14 percent drop in the second quarte

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) 鈥?A man who allegedly offered two Belize players large sums of money to fix a Gold Cup match against the United States has been identified by football officials, and he's believed to have tried to fix matches in other countries.
In a statement on Thursday, CONCACAF said it and are investigating the bribery allegations made by and Woodrow West. The players said they rejected the offer, made on Sunday, and immediately reported it. When a CONCACAF representative showed them a photo of a man being monitored for trying to fix matches in other countries, the Belize players confirmed it was the same man who approached them.
"So this isn't just about our country or a one-time thing," coach said after practice. "This is something much bigger."
Belize lost to the United States 6-1 on Tuesday in its first Gold Cup appearance. It faces Costa Rica here on Saturday, and finishes Group C play next Tuesday with a game against Cuba.
CONCACAF said it could not comment further on the ongoing investigation. But Mork said he doesn't believe the players were asked to fix any other games beside Tuesday's match against the U.S.
FIFA investigated reports of fixed matches at the 2011 Gold Cup, with reporting the questionable games involved Cuba, Grenada and El Salvador.
Only two of the 23 players in Belize's squad play professionally: Goalkeeper Shane Orio and defender play in Honduras. The rest have regular jobs and play in the semi-pro league in Belize in their free time.
"We're just trying our best to compete at this level," said Mork, an American. "I could see how they would be targets, I guess, but our minds don't really go there. It was a big shock."
Mork and the players said Gaynair and West were approached on Sunday in Portland, Oregon, where they played the Americans, by a man who had also been at their hotel in Guatemala City in June when they faced Guatemala in a friendly.
"He was wanting to become friends and come visit Belize,

Since the 1970s, an oxygen-deprived 鈥渄ead zone鈥?often bigger than the state of Connecticut has formed every summer in the Gulf of Mexico. Nancy Rabalais, the executive director of the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium and the dead zone s leading researcher, likens the phenomenon to 鈥渟tretching a sheet of plastic wrap from the mouth of the Mississippi River west to Galveston Texas and sucking out all the air.鈥?This year, that sucking sound may be particularly loud because the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is .

Dead zones begin when rivers carry nitrogen and phosphorus from agricultural fertilizers into the ocean. The Mississippi River delivers these 鈥utrients鈥?from the American heartland into the Gulf at a rate of 1.7 million tons per year.

When this stew of nutrients reaches the ocean, it causes algae to bloom in prodigious amounts. As the algae dies and settles to the bottom, bacteria consume it, pulling oxygen from the water. This suffocation takes place atop the most important commercial fishing grounds in the continental United States, suggesting that the nation is sacrificing publicly owned seafood for the sake of privately produced land food.

But unlike other seemingly intractable environmental problems, dead zones can be fixed. Part of the solution might be found near the Civil War battleground city of Vicksburg, Mississippi, with Paul Hartfield, a biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

鈥淥nce upon a time,鈥?Hartfield said as he steered down the Mississippi in a salvaged aluminum skiff, 鈥e had a floodplain that was over 100 miles wide. Now along most of the river it鈥 probably not more than five.鈥?

In the 1980s and 1990s, researchers studied what happens when people buy guns to protect themselves and their families. You might think theyd be safer, but studies concluded its actually far more likely that a gun kept in the home would be involved in a suicide, a domestic homicide or an accidental shooting than to shoot an intruder.
Those findings predictably enraged gun groups such as the NRA, which responded by attacking the research and the researchers. Since 1996, under the influence of gun groups, Congress has essentially shut down government-funded research about guns, taking away money from a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention division that funded firearms studies and forbidding any government-funded investigation that would 聯advocate or promote gun control.聰 The result: Much of the policy debate over guns has taken place in an information vacuum. Its time to start filling that void.
In January, President Barack Obama decided that 17 years of willful ignorance was enough. As part of his response to the shooting of 20 first-graders in Newtown, Conn., the month before, Obama ordered the CDC to restart firearms studies. The White House rightly reasons that honest research doesnt advocate or promote anything, so the congressional language shouldnt be an obstacle.
To make smart decisions, citizens and policymakers could use simple facts. For example, how many guns are there in the U.S.? The guess is 300 million, but no one really knows. How many firearms are bought without a background check? The most common estimate is 40 percent, but the number could be half that.
Other subjects are more complex. For instance, do violent video games influence or desensitize spree killers? And how often does the mere display of a weapon 聴 rather than the shooting of it 聴 deter crime?
Congress, which is nearing decisions on how to fund the government next year, would do well to provide money for even-handed gun research 聴 <a href=http://www.latestfootballjerseys.co

Actor Rupert Everett has joined Stephen Fry in urging the prime minister, authentic Baltimore ravens Jerseys David Cameron, to orchestrate a boycott of the in protest at Russian anti-gay laws .
Everett said he agreed "absolutely" with an from the broadcaster and writer urging Britain to boycott the Winter Olympics.
"It feels terrible to have to observe all this stuff going on," said Everett. "If you are gay in Russia you don't know anything about anything. You have no idea Aids exists because there's no information. You live very secretly. If anyone finds out you are gay you are liable to be beaten up, or killed, or forced to commit suicide."
Everett was speaking at the about his memoir, in which he narrates an episode when he was taken, as part of a UN delegation, to a Russian hospital. He recounts being told by activists that gay people seeking treatment for HIV/Aids are obliged, because of homophobia in the healthcare system, to pretend they are drug users in order to secure treatment. "The system there is very, very cruel," he said. "The situation with homosexuality is coming to a horrible head."
Everett, who has lived in Russia, attributed the act, which was signed into law by President Vladimir Putin in June, to the continued grip of religious conservatism. But he also hit out at the Roman Catholic church 鈥?part of the "foundation of my life" but also a "horrible, judgmental, finger-pointing suffering-obsessed religion which I don't think has anything to do with the Christian message".
"Various things it's completely ruined," he said. "It made sex for me such a complicated, dangerous issue that I risked myself much too much. When I was a young man it was right at the beginning of the Aids epidemic and I'd thrown myself into a very reckless sexual career which I needn't have done if I hadn't have had this institution criticising the way I was

In the , we identified the correct exit in the market at near the exact top (within 1 day of the multi-year high), designed to identify timing for exiting open long swing trades using the S P chart. We also discussed the importance of scaling out of open winning trades in two steps, to close initial entries out over time, at key sequential support levels. In this second article, we鈥l look at closer technical exit signals for swing trades, with unique Reds 19 Votto Navy 2010 All Star Jerseys examples.

Scaling Out Of Downtrending Swing Trades: A Tighter 2-Step Exit Plan

In the first article, we looked at both 4- and 8-day support levels as exit signals. To extend that trading strategy, we now look at the special case where a swing trade is starting to exhibit signs of a downtrend, as defined by lower price action compared to a prior day. The goal is to start tightening in trailing stops to lock in gains at the first sign of a trend reversal.

In Figure 1 Calpine Corp. (CPN), we see that a downtrend has started to form midday (lower lows, lower highs for the current plus prior day鈥 price action trend). To exit, we scale out of half the trade if price action gets .35 cents under the cumulative 2-day low (current plus one prior day). For this CPN chart, that would be at (21.5 - .35) = 21.15 as the first scale-out exit. The secondary entry is to be set at a maximum of 1 full point under the cumulative 2-day low, in this case (21.5 鈥?1.0) = 20.5 for the second, final exit.

Traders often needlessly wait for extremely large drops before scaling out of open winning swing trades, with exits far too low, to lock in significant potential profits. It鈥 a smart idea to test out various exit signals like those discussed, to start scaling out of open winning swing trades at the first sign of trouble, as illustrated in this chart, with a .35 below 2-day low exit to start exiting the position

In a move that is not entirely surprising, the Board of Directors of Barnes Noble (BKS), the last remaining brick-and-mortar bookstore chain, announced the immediate resignation of CEO William Lynch on Monday.

News of Lynch鈥 departure was accompanied by an organizational shake-up which has resulted in Michael Huseby becoming the company鈥 President, as well as the CEO of NOOK Media LLC, while Vice President Allen Lindstrom has been moved up to the position of Chief Financial Officer.

The restructuring comes on the heels of the release 2009 World Baseball Classic 15 Beltran white jersey of terrible sales figures for the company鈥 once-dominant electronic book reader, the Nook. Barnes Noble reported a 34 percent decline in Nook sales for its recently ended fiscal fourth quarter, and while the company will continue to manufacture less expensive black and white e-readers, it has said that it is seeking to outsource the production of higher-end color versions of the Nook to bigger companies, one of which is expected to be Microsoft (MSFT).

The Nook has more or less been overtaken by its competitors, Apple鈥 (AAPL) iPad and increasingly, Amazon鈥 (AMZN) Kindle and Kindle Fire readers that have more or less dominated the e-reader market over the last few years, while capturing a larger share of the tablet market in general. In some respects, at least from the standpoint of consumers and bibliophiles, the Nook has some definite advantages over the competition, especially when it comes to free book downloads and even more so with regard to the availability of obscure and/or specialized offerings that are not available elsewhere.

But these perks have done little, if anything, to help it beat back its vastly better-funded adversaries, and this has happened despite the company鈥 efforts to make its Nook more relevant to changing market conditions. Furthermore, a and price-cut for th

Big Easy Takes Advantage of Adam Scott Collapse /p
聽So did Ernie Els win it? Or did Adam Scott lose it? Both. The agony and the ecstasy of golf were on full display at Royal Lytham St. Annes, and when it was over, Els had his second Claret Jug and fourth major, and Scott had first-hand knowledge of what it feels like to be Greg Norman. Or Jason Dufner.
On a day when the field was retreating like Napoleon from Russia, Els posted a back-9 4-under 32 in the stiffening breezes of Royal Lytham, rolling in a clutch birdie on the 72nd hole before grabbing a sandwich and watching Scott implode with bogeys on the final four holes. It was an utterly shocking turn of events on a day that seemed like a Scott coronation until the heartbreaking conclusion.聽
Through 11 holes, it seemed utterly hopeless. Noted stat geek Ken Pomeroy had Els, who was 6 shots behind at the turn, with a 3 percent chance of winning. Scott kept finding fairways and greens, and his closest competitors at the start of the day 鈥?Graeme McDowell, Brandt Snedeker and Tiger Woods 鈥?never mustered anything resembling a charge, finding bunkers and rough as though they were ball magnets. Woods in particular made a colossal mental error that essentially ended his chances, attempting a miracle bunker shot on 6 that led to a triple bogey (and possibly a re-tweaked knee).聽
But a 2009 All Star Milwaukee Brewers 28 Prince Fielder Red Jerseys Scott bogey at 16 left Els standing over a 12-foot birdie putt on 18 with a chance to post 7-under and get within a shot. Els drained the putt and unleashed what was for him a stunning show of emotion. Clearly rattled by the roar up ahead, Scott found gnarly greenside rough with his approach on 17, leading to another bogey and a tie. On 18, after splitting fairway after fairway, Scott found a bunker off the tee. After pitching out sideways, Scott mustered one final stand, naili

Huh?
The chunk of backstory you鈥檇 need to make this leap of logic can be found in Episode 412 and 413. This off-camera action was discussed at great length鈥 on Breaking Bad discussion groups, but not fully explained within the show itself.
At the 27:00 mark of Episode 412, Jesse comes over to Walt鈥 house and confronts him, accusing him of poisoning Brock. At gunpoint. You can see a bit of that confrontation starting at 2:03 in the video below.
Crucially, Jesse, while pointing a gun at Walt, lays out the complicated scenario.
Walt: 鈥淵ou said it yourself. You had <the>Ricin cigarette] this morning. When could I have possibly鈥?鈥?br> Jesse: 鈥淵ou had Saul do it. I went to his office. He called me and just had to see me today. His big Man Mountain body guard patted me down and that鈥 when he must Discount Arizona Cardinals Jerseys | have stole it off of me, right? Was that the plan?鈥?
Yes, that was the plan. Jesse had it perfectly right down to the last detail, but Walt convinces him鈥揳nd us鈥hat he couldn鈥檛 have done it. 鈥淛esse,鈥?Walt argues. 鈥hy would I poison a child?鈥?
Fast forward to the very end of Episode 413. Walt has already killed Gus. Jesse tells Walt that Brock is going to recover.
Jesse: 鈥hey鈥e still saying it wasn鈥檛 the ricin.鈥?br> Walt: 鈥hat was it?鈥?br> Jesse: 鈥hey鈥e saying it was a flower called Lily of the Valley.鈥?
The very last shot of Episode 413 and indeed the last shot of the season shows the Lily of the Valley Plant in Walter鈥 yard, revealing to us that Walter had, indeed, poisoned Brock
But how exactly did Walt poison Brock?
You can hear Vince Gilligan鈥 somewhat cursory explanation starting at at 30:50 in this Comic-Con panel, with the showrunner joking, 鈥滿y writers and I would always tell the story to ourselves about the Evil Juice Box Man.鈥?
The complete timeline goes something like this:
Walt is sitting in his yard with the gun, waiting for Gus鈥 me

As if it didn t have enough problems on its hands, the U.S. now finds itself in a debate over one of the unchallenged notions of U.S. national consciousness. The argument was set off by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who clearly knows what buttons to press to quickly get Americans riled up. Button number one is American exceptionalism, the notion that the U.S., based on its values and history, occupies a unique place in the world.
Putin, who has been having fun making Washington look bad all week, tossed in a jibe at this conviction late in his op-ed in the New York Times:
I carefully studied <President>Obama's] address to the nation on Tuesday. And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States鈥?policy is what makes America different. It鈥 what makes us exceptional. 聽 It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord鈥 blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.
The response, as he must have expected, was immediate, intense and overwhelmingly hostile. I almost wanted to vomit, said Sen. Robert Menendez, a Democrat who heads the foreign relations committee. Who is some jumped-up former KGB agent to lecture the United States on its national interest, or anything else for that matter?
Reactions veered between anger at Putin for daring to be so uppity, and outrage that he had so easily outwitted their president.
Talk radio blowhard Rush Limbaugh almost聽 gave birth to a canary. After losing his copy of Putin s argument I thought I had it here at the top.聽 My bad, folks.聽 At any rate, it s an outrage what exceptionalism is, and isn t.
What it isn t:

A recent study that revealed many herbal products contain unlisted ingredients and fillers that could pose health risks has some experts questioning whether more regulation is needed of the natural health product industry.
"My understanding is that Canada has some of the best good manufacturing practice standards in the world," said Heather Boon, interim dean of pharmacy at the University of Toronto. "I've been telling consumers for years to buy Canadian because you're more likely to get a higher-quality product because of our regulations."
But Boon, who also co-directs the Canadian Interdisciplinary Network for Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research, said the results of the study do raise some questions about whether more needs to be done.
In 2004, new manufacturing rules were put in place for natural health products.
"This particular study seems to suggest that may not be enough to make sure the right product is ending up in the right bottle," Boon said.
'Serious health risks'
In the recent study, researchers at the University of Guelph used DNA barcode testing to probe 44 herbal products from 12 companies. They discovered Cheap Giants Jerseys On Sale there was product substitution in 20 of the 44 products tested and only two companies had products without any substitution, contamination or fillers. The plastic pieces are so integral to the experience that it's impossible to review the game without reviewing the toys as well.
They're very nice.
The giant characters are particularly lovely. Being twice Discount Patriots Jerseys the size of the smaller characters, these eight behemoths (four currently availableâ”Swarm, Crusher, Bouncer and Tree Rex) pack a lot of detail, and when placed on the Portal of Power a set aglow, they truly come to life. New smaller characters like the Pop Fizz (voiced by freaking Bobcat Goldthwait) and the ice maiden Chill continue to build upon the personality established in the first game, bringing us ever closer to the inevitable Skylanders cartoon.
It's really a pity that more of that personality doesn't shine through in the video game portion of this transmedia sensation. With more than 50 unique characters available to play, creating complex storylines with fully-voiced cut scenes for each would be a monumental effort. Instead the Skylanders are limited to a handful of catchphrases, the bulk of the narrative delivered by a series of quirky non-player characters.
As the story goes, the villainous Kaos (voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz of Invader Zim fame) returns to the Skylands after his Earthly exile in the previous game. He discovers a powerful artifact belonging to a lost race of giant robots (the king of which is none other than Star Trek's George Takei) and decides to use it to take over the Skylands once again. The Skylanders team up with the bombastic Flynn (Patrick Warburton, doing his best impression of someone doing a bad Patrick Warburton impression) and a growing cast of misfits to take Kaos down.
It's 15 chapters (a couple of hours, if you speed) of the sort of action-RPG combat as we saw in the original game. Characters run through twisting levels, seeking hidden treasures while battling the forces of not-good with their f

Evans recently spent a week in Eugene, Ore., touring facilities operated by Weyerhauser, one of the world's largest manufacturers of wood- and engineered-wood products.
He came back âœfull of ideasâ and just in time to take up his duties as chairman of the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association's 68th annual Parade of Homes.
The parade is set to launch Oct. 19 and run through Oct. 27. New homes will be open free to the public from 1 to 7 p.m. daily. Free parade guidebooks, with photos, maps, descriptions and characteristics of the homes, will be available starting at noon Friday at metro-area Arvest Bank and Best Buy locations while supplies last.
Evans toured two of Weyerhauser's production facilities, one that had only recently shifted to electricity from steam, which had powered the plant for decades.
The second, Evans said, was fully automated, requiring only a few humans to aid the computers and robotic devices that transform tree trunks 6 feet in diameter into stacks of 2-by-4 and 2-by-6 lumber.
Timber management is âœone of the original âgreen' industries,â Evans said, noting that Weyerhauser's sustainable planting practices were developed to ensure that hundreds of thousands of acres of healthy forest will be available for harvest yearly.
Evans Cheap Authentic Denver Broncos Jerseys Sale said he also witnessed âœzero-wasteâ practice, seeing tree by-products turned into mulch and pulp.
Evans toured a vast Oregon forest â” a half-million acres around Eugene â” where genetically-engineered trees soar overhead, destined one day to become the materials he and other builders rely on.
Evans said it was interesting to note that in the Pacific Northwest, wooden and log homes are âœso much more prevalentâ compared to Oklahoma, âœwhere we use what we've gotâ â” more rock and brick.
Still, Evans said, TimberCraft's vision is not to take âœwhat we've gotâ too far, but to break from the trad

The Thunder coach just doesn't care about it.
Not when it comes to Kevin Durant.
âœI like to keep his in that 38 minutes,â Brooks said, âœright around 38 to 40 minutes.â
Assuming Durant plays at least 79 games, he would eclipse the 3,000-minute mark for the fourth time in five seasons. He registered 2,546 in the lockout-shortened 66-game 2011-12 season.
Ben Wallace, with the Detroit Pistons in 2004, is the last player to win a title in the same year that he played at least 3,000 minutes.
An eventual Finals MVP hasn't logged that many minutes since Tim Duncan did so with San Antonio in 2002-03.
So what does all this mean?
Depending on your interpretation of the data, the Thunder could have a problem on its hands this season.
With starting point guard Russell Westbrook sidelined for at least the first month of the regular season, the Thunder has little choice other than to rely heavily upon Durant. Even if Brooks wanted to manage Durant's minutes, he couldn't.
âœIt's a lot on me,â Durant said of managing the anticipated heavy workload. âœI just got to recover right after games, after practice. I got to eat well. Just make sure my body is right.â
It's worth noting that before the 2004-05 season, 11 of 13 NBA champions had players log at least 3,000 minutes. So reaching that mark isn't some sort of death sentence. But the current nine-year trend does suggest, among other things, that players need rest (and in many cases strong supporting casts to get it).
Limiting minutes is one way to ensure players get ample rest throughout a grueling 82-game season. Taking games off and missing contests because of injury plays a part as well. But that speaks to the larger point. Regardless of the reason, players are receiving rest.
Yet even in a season in which the Thunder won 60 games and posted an eye-popping 9.2 average point differential, the Thunder still played Durant 38.5 minutes per game last season.
In fact, Durant has averaged more regular-season m

OTTAWA â” Justin Trudeau continues to generate a disproportionate amount of excitement and media attention more than six months after winning the federal Liberal leadership. But can it be sustained, and will it translate into electoral success?
The next few months will see byelections in Toronto and Montreal to replace Liberal MPs Bob Rae and Denis Coderre, respectively. The Liberals need huge victories in both to maintain their momentum and prove they are for real.
Liberals are also hoping for strong showings in the Manitoba ridings of Brandon-Souris and Provencher, both previously held by Conservatives, to prove Trudeauâ™s message is resonating with non-Liberals.
Hereâ™s what you need to know about Trudeau, his party and its plan for the fall:
The Leader:
The eldest son of former prime minister Pierre Trudeau acknowledges he was born into privileged circumstances. He says his entrance into politics after stints as a teacher and public speaker was fuelled by a desire to give back to Canadians.
Trudeau proudly notes he wasnâ™t given a free ride to Parliament but fought hard to win the Montreal riding of Papineau in 2008.
He has simultaneously embraced his fatherâ™s legacy on such issues as federalism and human rights, and sought to distance himself from his fatherâ™s economic policies.
While touting a more open, inclusive and positive style of politics, Trudeau has found himself in hot water several times when speaking off-the-cuff, prompting questions over whether he is all style and no substance.
He was elected federal Liberal leader in April 2013.
Fall Focus:
Liberals are between rebuilding- and election-mode.
The byelections in Toronto, Montreal and Manitoba are taking a great deal of the partyâ™s attention and energy. Trudeau has brought his star power to all three areas, and will do so until voters go to the polls.
Even after the byelections, Trudeau will spend as little time in Parliament as he hits the road to raise money and build a netwo

Successful startups seem to follow similar paths to greatness, and unfortunately all too often that path leads them back down the hill much faster than they went up. Big company powerhouses, like IBM and Xerox, took fifty years to make the cycle, but new companies today, in the age of the Internet, often make the cycle in five to ten years, or even less. Consider MySpace and Webvan.
Thus it behooves every entrepreneur to start watching these things more carefully from the very start. By definition, most startups begin as a result of some innovation in product, process, or service. The problem is that innovations in most business areas are coming so fast these days that yours can be overrun while still be scaled across geographies and other products.
In other words, the challenge today is to build a culture of continuous innovation, as well as continuous scaling, and continuous consolidation, all concurrently. Thatâ™s a tall order, especially when your business culture has to fit into the myriad of international and local cultures that are part of every market these days.
In a new book, âœ,â Kai Hammerich and Richard D. Lewis explore these culture issues, both national and international, that can make or break your company strategy. Incidentally, I love that book title, which seems to me applicable to most aspects of business (and even people), as well as business culture.
To set the stage for all the cultural issues and timing, the authors start with a summary of the five lifecycle phases that every company is likely to experience over the long-term or short-term, regardless of culture:
Innovation. This business phase is where every entrepreneur starts. Itâ™s a volatile period for every company, where most struggle with getting commercial and technological traction, usually based on a single product or service. A particularly critical moment is when the founders hand over the leadership to a m

For years the Regional Center for Animal Control and Protection, often called âœthe pound,â has been viewed as a jail for the Roanoke areaâ™s animals.
While local animal rescue shelters select pets and work to adopt them out, the RCACP takes in all the others. The pound gets dogs, cats, goats, chickens and any other domesticated breed roaming the streets. The center is required to take all of them, even the sick or aggressive.
And not all of the furry inmates make it out the front door alive.
For pet lovers who work or volunteer for the organization, the job can tug at the heart strings.
However, over the past month the staff at the RCACP has finally experienced first-hand some of the same satisfaction as that in no-kill shelters: The RCACP began managing its own animal adoptions in September. So far, 36 animals have been adopted directly from the Cheap New Orleans Saints Jerseys On Sale pound.
âœIn a facility like this you donâ™t get to participate in the good stuff,â said RCACP Executive Director David Flagler. âœAnd the adoptions â” well, our staff gets so excited about it. It makes it worthwhile coming to work.â
The staff, which now includes a part-time veterinarian and full-time veterinary technologist, cleans and cares for the hundreds of animals in the RCACP, giving them names like Zeus, Bubbles and Fluffernutter and appreciating their personalities. Now, they also also get to oversee meet-and-greets with the animals and pet-seekers.
Previously, adoptions at the RCACP were all handled by the Roanoke Valley Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, next door to the RCACP on Baldwin Avenuein northeast Roanoke.
In November 2012, the four communities the pound serves â” Roanoke, Roanoke County, Vinton and Botetourt County â” agreed to separate operations after public criticism of euthanasia rates at the pound and questions about the organiza

More kids than ever before are dealing with eating disorders in the United States, and the problem is showing up much earlier, too. According to a study by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, children under 12 who were hospitalized for an eating disorder increased by 119 percent between 1999 and 2006.
And it’s not just affecting girls and young women. A recent study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal found that 10 to 15 percent of males suffer from eating disorders as well.
“Every time I looked at myself, I saw this huge stomach, love handles and a bald head,” said Brian Cuban, author of Shattered Image: My Triumph Over Body Dysmorphic Disorder.
The younger brother of Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, Brian said he was “fat-shamed” by his mother, as well as bullied and physically assaulted at school, leading him to develop body dysmorphic disorder – a condition that causes a person to have a distorted view of his or her body.
About a third of people who are diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder also have an eating disorder, according to a study in the International Journal of Eating Disorders.
During his freshman year of college, Cuban developed anorexia and bulimia, eventually became addicted to drugs and alcohol, and even attempted suicide. He suffered for 27 years until finally getting help in 2007 and turning his life around.
For boys like Cuban who suffer from an eating disorder, it’s harder to get help, let alone talk to their parents about it. “Gender stigma for men and body image has lagged way behind,” Cuban said.
The obesity problem
According to a recent study in the journal Pediatrics, teens who are overweight or obese are not only at an increased risk for developing an eating disorder, but diagnosing and treating the disorders is delayed. And on the flip side, binge eating disorder can lead a child to become obese.

Thanks for your publication on the traveling industry. I would also like to add that if you are one senior taking into account traveling, it really is absolutely vital that you buy travel cover for seniors. When traveling, elderly people are at greatest risk being in need of a health-related emergency. Obtaining the right insurance policy package for one’s age group can protect your health and provide you with peace of mind.
